Ceri Thomas

Ceri Thomas is an artist who has exhibited his work primarily in Wales, although it has been shown further afield, namely Italy, France and the United States. He studied art, art history and Italian in London, Aberystwyth and Florence. It is perhaps not surprising therefore that Wales and Italy and their respective cultures have been, and continue to be, influential upon his art and ideas.
For instance, he has painted two large scale murals
'Mo(u)rning over Cwmdonkin
and 'Cara Roma...Cofio Caradoc' which can be viewed either individually or as a pair. They focus on a real and an imagined pavement in Swansea and Rome respectively to deal with memory and identity, time and place. He has also produced a suite of photocollages of specific locations in South Wales and Central Italy dealing with these same aspects and with formal, perspective problems.
